Essential roadworks are to take place on one of East Kilbride's main roads.
From 7pm on Friday 6 September, the A749 Kingsway will be closed between the Whirlies Roundabout and the Kingsgate Roundabout. It will remain closed until 6am on Monday 9 September.
South Lanarkshire Council have said the closure is only between Law Place Roundabout and Whirlies, with the roundabouts at either end remaining open, while local access/egress for businesses will be available on the southbound carriageway.
The alternative route will be signposted, and will be via Stewartfield Way, Queensway, the back on to the Kingsway.
Councillor Chris Thompson, Chair of the Council's Enterprise Services Committee, said: "We are carrying out this work at the weekend in a bid to minimise disruption to road users.
"It is advisable to avoid the area where possible or if that is not suitable please leave a little bit longer for your journey.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused by these works, but they are essential to improve the road surface."
