Permission is being sought for a proposed waste energy plant near Galashiels.
According to the BBC, the Scottish Borders Council is understood to have recommended the plans be approved for the project.
If successful, the facility will be located at Easter Langlee.
The firm behind the plans, New Earth Solutions Limited, want to build the plant which could provide jobs for around 30 people. There have been concerns raised about the 75ft chimney proposed as part of the design, but planning officers said it would be in line with the "semi-industrialised" area.
The plant would turn waste into fuel, such as electricity. Initially, plans suggested the fuel would then be exported off site, but it will now be used on-site instead to help produce electricity and heat.
