South Lanarkshire Council has said essential resurfacing works are to be carried out on Kirktonholme Road in East Kilbride.

Around £200,000 is to be invested in the aim of improving the road.

The scheme will commence on Monday 19 August until Sunday 25 August with the works taking place between 7am and 7pm on those days.

For the duration of the works, Kirktonholme Road will be closed between Flakefield and Falkland Drive. An alternative route, via West Mains Road, will be clearly signposted.

Chair of the Council's Enterprise Services Committee, Councillor Chris Thompson, said: "Unfortunately these roadworks are of a nature which means they cannot be carried out without some inconvenience to road users.

"We apologise for this and would draw people's attention to the diversion route which will be in place.

"It would also be helpful if anyone travelling in this area ensures they leave extra time for their journey."
