Construction Work Begins On Health Centre

Work has officially started on a new £2.5m health centre in Dalbeattie.

Health Secretary Alex Neil attended a turf-cutting ceremony at the site on Wednesday.

The facility, which will be located on the Port Road, has been proposed for a number of years, but a lack of funding has repeatedly pushed the development back.

Last year, the Scottish Government said it was to invest £2.3m in the project, subsequently allowing the building to go ahead.

NHS Dumfries and Galloway said the complex would provide a fit-for-purpose, comfortable and safe facility for both patients and staff. Capacity of the existing GP practice will also increase as a result of the new build.
