Moray Council has asked motorists to be patient during the six-week closure of a busy main road in Elgin.
New Elgin Road and Main Street in New Elgin will be closed from the Asda roundabout to the Thornhill Road roundabout until 18 August as upgrading work is carried out on a water main.
The section forms part of the A941 Elgin-Rothes Road which is one of the busiest commuter routes in and out of Elgin.
Separate diversions have been put in place for northbound and southbound traffic for the duration of the works, which are being carried out by Morrison Construction on behalf of Scottish Water.
The diversions are well signposted and temporary no waiting restrictions have been introduced along the diversion routes to ease the flow of traffic. Access to properties within the closed area has been maintained and businesses are open and trading as normal.
A spokesman for Moray Council said: "There may be some inconvenience but everyone involved will try to keep that to a minimum."
