House builder, Stewart Milne Group, has appointed Jim Fitzsimons to project manage the development of a new community at Countesswells to the west of Aberdeen.

A major player in the Scottish development community, with considerable project delivery and commercial expertise, Jim Fitzsimons will take the role of Project Director with the organisation this month.

Identified within the Aberdeen City Council Local Development Plan and being delivered by a consortium, Countesswell's will be one of the north-east's most significant construction projects.

Set within 165 hectares, the sustainable, mixed-use development will see 3,000 homes built alongside employment land with facilities and services including schools, shops and a health centre, constructed over a 15 year period.

The development will help meet the demand for growth as set out in the region's structure plan.

Managing Director for Strategic Land at Stewart Milne Group, Steve Loomes, said: "Jim will make an excellent addition to the highly experienced team already working on this development. His appointment complements the expertise we have within our business to deliver this exemplar project that will represent the very best in place-making and deliver clear social and economic benefits, as well as employment opportunities both during and after construction."

Fitzsimons acted for Barratt Developments in Scotland as project director of one of the country's largest infrastructure and development schemes in Central Scotland at Ravenscraig, and since 2012, has led various commercial development and management projects through Capella Developments Ltd.
