Restoration work worth £85,000 has been completed at King George V Park in Cambusbarron.

The grant provided new play equipment for the park including a 'bird nest' climbing structure, as well as a 'flying fox' and group swing. New swings have been added together with a roundabout, trampolines and springer for younger children.

In addition to the equipment, the stonework at the park entrance has also been restored while the park furniture, gates and railings have been repainted.

The work, which began in March, was carried out by the Council's Land Service.

Councillor Danny Gibson said: "What a fantastic difference the refurbishment of the park has had with lots of fun and challenging new play equipment for children of all ages. The local community and children themselves were instrumental in deciding what types of equipment they wanted the park to have."

The project has been funded from a combination of monies from housing developer Persimmon Homes for community facilities in the Cambusbarron area and the Council's Land Service.
