Argyll Community Housing Association (ACHA) has said its current capital investment work in Campbeltown amounts to £9.3m.

This includes investment in ACHA's soon-to-be completed new build at Park Square, the modernisation of cottages at Dalaruan and a range of rood and roughcast replacements, heating and rewires, kitchen and bathroom renewals and new door entry systems.

In addition to the above, the Association is also carrying out energy efficiency measures through loft insulation as well as a programme of aids and adaptations for tenants who require them.

Association Chief Executive Alastair MacGregor said: "This multi-million pound investment in our housing stock is part of our contribution to the wider regeneration of Campbeltown as a partner with Argyll and Bute Council and the Scottish Government. In these challenging economic times this housing investment not only provides and sustains affordable housing for the future but provides much needed jobs in the construction industry."

Argyll and Bute Council Leader, Roddy McCuish, added: "Housing investment is a key part of Campbeltown's future and Argyll and Bute Council have worked with ACHA and the Scottish Government through the CHORD programme and bringing our resources together to deliver the maximum impact."

The investment in ACHA's current housing stock is part of its programme of works to bring all of its properties up to the Scottish Housing Quality Standard by November 2015.

The completion of the new build housing at Park Square will provide 32 new homes for affordable rent in the town. It will bring the total number of properties completed by ACHA at New Parliament Place to 84.
