A construction worker has been shot while working on a site in Galashiels, the British Transport Police has said.
It is thought he was shot and injured by an air weapon pellet.
The incident happened around 9.30am on Tuesday, near Hillside Drive and Edinburgh Road in Galashiels.
The man, 33, sustained a minor arm injury which required him to attend hospital.
PC Steven Johnstone of BTP, who is in charge of the enquiry, said: "This was a pretty stupid act which could have had serious consequences. Anyone who was in the area at the time and has information regarding those responsible should contact BTP as a matter of urgency."
