Aberdeenshire Council's Social Work and Housing Committee is to receive an update on the progress of the local authority's housing programme.

Councillors will learn of the progress being made to create new homes across the region as well as receive an update on Phase Five of the council's new build programme, where 145 new homes are due to be completed by March 2015.

The homes range from family housing to houses for older people as part of the Conglass care village in Inverurie to extra care units for people with learning disabilities in Inverurie and Peterhead.

The council secured £4.7m from the Scottish Government with the local authority contributing more than £16m towards numerous projects in Inverurie, Peterhead, Banff, Ballater, Westhill and Fraserburgh.

The projects include:

• Inverurie: 8 units as part of the new care village and 24 extra care units

• Peterhead: 11 unit extra care facility and 31 units for rent

• Banff: 3 units for rent

• Ballater: 8 units for rent

• Westhill: 30 units for rent

• Fraserburgh: 30 units for rent

In addition to the above, a further 94 units will be delivered via the council's registered social landlord partners. This is assisted by £1.8m key areas funding from Aberdeenshire Council and more than £4m from Scottish Government grant.
