Fife-based firm, Muir Construction, has been awarded the contract to build a new Morrisons supermarket in Kirkcaldy.
The deal is worth around £25m and will see the creation of dozens of construction jobs throughout the building process, the Construction Enquirer has said.
The development will be situated on the site of the former B&Q store on the town's Esplanade, which has been demolished to make way for the new facility. A petrol station and hundreds of parking spaces are also included in the plans.
The site has lain derelict since 2009 when the former B&Q store closed down. Despite a few objections from locals, planning permission for the new supermarket was eventually granted in autumn 2012.
Morrisons Development Executive Richard Bakes said he was "delighted" to have secured Muir Construction for the development and looked forward to seeing the new store completed later this year.
Alan Muir, Business Development Director of Muir Construction, added that the "tremendous contract" would secure local employment and "restore job security" in the sector.
