Work is underway in Bishopbriggs and Kirkintilloch on 26 new council homes, with the first roof trusses for the build now erected.
The homes are being developed with support from Scottish Government funding and are expected to be completed by early 2014.
Constructed by developer Cruden Buildings and Renewals Ltd, 12 new properties – consisting of one and two-bedroom houses and flats are being build at Fern Avenue in Bishopbriggs. A further 14 homes, made up of one, two and three-bedroom houses and flats are being developed at Lammermoor Road in Kirkintilloch.
The new developments are just two of many being undertaken across East Dunbartonshire.
In March, the Scottish Government awarded the Council an additional allocation of £718k for new housing projects. It brings the total funding for new projects for 2012-2015 to £4.3m and it is hoped the additional funding will help deliver a further 31 new council homes.
Depute Leader of the Council and Convener of Housing and Community Services, Ashay Ghai, said: "It is encouraging to see the progress of these new homes in Bishopbriggs and Kirkintilloch and I am delighted that these houses will be welcoming their first tenants early next year.
"The development of these properties is another step forward for the Council in addressing the housing needs of people living within our communities and the future projects planned will see even more affordable housing being built in East Dunbartonshire."
