Local Contractors Sought For Alloa School

Clackmannanshire Council is calling for local contractors to help Robertson in the delivery of a new £8m primary school.

Redwell Primary School in Alloa is the first project to be delivered in the area by the hub East Central Scotland Company Limited (hub East Central).

The new facility is to replace both St John's and Claremont Primary Schools and is being delivered as part of a £500m investment programme covering construction projects throughout Forth Valley, Fife and Tayside.

Redwell will have 15 classrooms, two gyms and a dining hall, as well as other teaching and administration areas, while each classroom will benefit from direct access to the playground and outside learning areas.

Ahead of the construction work, Robertson, who is delivering the project for hub East Central, is holding a Meet the Buyer event on Tuesday 7 May to give local subcontractors the chance to join the supply chain and win some of the work packages available during the project. It will be held at Alloa Town Hall from 10am to 4pm.

Malcolm MacLeod, hub director for Robertson said: "Our Meet the Buyer event is a chance for local subcontractors and tradespeople to meet the project team and find out how they might get involved in the construction of the new Redwell Primary School, which marks an exciting new start for local school children in Alloa West."

Construction of the new school is to start this summer and will take around 13 months to complete.
