Fife's Valleyfield Woodland Park has taken another step towards a Heritage Lottery bid.

Councillors at a meeting of the South West Fife Area Committee heard a team of professional consultants would soon be appointed to take the bid forward.

If successful, the fund will help to rejuvenate and preserve the park.

The Council has already committed £6k of funding to the project which will be led by enterprise, planning and protective services, and work would include restoring the walled garden and ornamental canal, investigating the pineapple pits and restoring the park's rustic arch and bridges.

Chair of the Committee Bobby Clelland said: "Last year trees were thinned and removed from growing through the structures and the ivy removed revealed the extent of works required, there’s a lot of work to do.

"The Lottery ceiling of £2million could easily be met and I am delighted it is this sort of money that will be directed at the old Valleyfield estate – it will give the community something to feel really proud of."
