A site has been chosen for the new Aberdeenshire Council offices to be built in Peterhead.
The £5m facility, which is to include council chambers and a customer service point, is to be built at St Peter Street in the town. It will also include office accommodation for around 190 staff, a conference room and a registrar office.
Members of the Policy and Resources Committee at a meeting on Thursday approved the site.
Work on the St Peter Street site is expected to begin in January 2014, with a target date for completion set for March 2015.
In 2011, the Council's Office Accommodation Strategy recommended consolidating all council office facilities in Peterhead with the construction of a single building.
This will enable the release of offices – both owned and leased – which will generate significant savings for the council, along with the potential capital income from the disposal of the assets.
