A new extension to Speyside High School in Aberlour, has been approved by Moray Council.
The single-storey extension will accommodate drama and performance space, a music classroom and practice rooms, a fitness suite, offices and staff rooms and will be constructed as an extension to the south-west corner of the school.
The decision follows a campaign for improved facilities at Speyside High School by the school's parent council.
A report to the committee said the proposed development will "provide enhanced drama and music facilities and outdoor recreation space at the school."
Council Leader Councillor Allan Wright told the committee the Council "does support the arts" through the application approval, with Speyside Councillor Fiona Murdoch adding that the additional accommodation represented a "great improvement" to the school.
Committee Chairman Douglas Ross concluded: "There has been a need for this performance space for many years and it was great to see it approved today with no objections. It will be a great asset for the school and the local community."
