A group of investors are reported to have met to discuss the possibility of building a hydro power generator in Scotland.
It is understood the discussions involved a generator in the Pentland Hills in Edinburgh, the BBC has said.
The group want to install hydro power at the first outlet from the Harlaw Reservoir.
Harlow Hydro would be the first urban micro-hydro project to be community owned within the Edinburgh area if plans went ahead.
The investors hope to create a community benefit co-op to try and encourage people to buy shares. Investors would then get a capital return through the feed-in tariff.
Any surplus cash would be filtered back in to the community via the Balerno Village Trust.
The Balerno Village Trust was founded in 2003 by Balerno Community Council. Listed among their aims, the Trust focuses and encourages sustainability and community development for Balerno and the surrounding districts.
