Progress Continues With Ullapool Construction
The first phase of construction on six new workshops at Morefield Industrial Estate, Ullapool, is progressing well.
The Morefield site was purchased by Ullapool Harbour Trust in 2009.
The development is a mix of commercial and industrial units and storage facilities and work is due to be completed in July.
All six units are constructed and are expected to be made wind and water-tight shortly.
The units are being built by a local firm, Ullapool Construction, who won the tender to develop the two-acre site.
Once the work is completed, the development will include a range of business premises, including workshops, storage areas and an access road and car park.
The Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) provided Ullapool Harbour Trust with a grant of £220k towards the project. The development cost £1.3m.
Lindsay Simpson from HIE said the demand for workshop units in the area allowed the trust to develop the project. She added that the units will "create opportunities for businesses looking to expand and businesses could be encouraged to locate to Ullapool, bringing economic benefits and jobs to the fragile area."
