Mactaggart & Mickel Timber Secure New Contracts

The year has got off to a strong start for timber frame manufacturer Mactaggart & Mickel Timber Systems, Construction Now has reported.

New contracts, worth in excess of £1.4m, has meant the company has tripled its production capacity as it moves to a new factory.

The company will provide 76 units for a Miller Homes development in Winchburgh, its second contract with the housebuilder.

A fifth contract with Ogilvie Construction on behalf of Premier Inn, has also been secured and will see a 60-bed hotel and restaurant produced in Stirling.

Since it was founded in 2008, the timber frame arm of family builder Mactaggart & Mickel Group has experienced exponential growth.

In the last financial year, turnover increased by 45% for a healthy growth in profits.

Timber frame has become the mainstream method of construction for residential properties in the UK and is increasingly being adopted for commercial use because of its efficiencies in the speed of build and sustainability.

Ross Mickel, director and fourth generation family member, is confident that the company is well placed for future growth.

He said: "We have achieved solid success to date in a very challenging climate thanks to our commitment to innovation and quality which ultimately delivers cost efficiencies for our customers. These new contract wins are evidence of this as we continue to secure strong levels of repeat business.

"Our new facility will allow us to further expand our customer base and develop new products."
