Influential Speakers Announced For All-Energy 2013

With 13 weeks before the opening of All-Energy 2013, the UK's largest renewable energy exhibition and conference, key component parts are all in place.

Some of the influential speakers taking part in the multi-stream conference have been announced, as has a new and invaluable feature - The Energy Hub - sponsored by The Crown Estate.

Amongst the keynote speakers confirmed to be taking part in the All-Energy 2013 conference at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) on Wednesday 22 and Thursday 23 May 2013 are Rt Hon Ed Davey MP the UK’s Secretary of State, Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC); Fergus Ewing MSP, Minister for Energy, Enterprise and Tourism, Scottish Government; Lady Susan Rice CBE, Managing Director, Lloyds Banking Group Scotland; Huub den Rooijen, Head of Offshore Wind Energy; The Crown Estate; and Benj Sykes, UK Country Manager, Wind Power, DONG Energy.

Other speakers over the two days include: Bert De Colvenaer, Executive Director of the Fuel Cells & Hydrogen Joint Undertaking; Colin Imrie, Head of the Scottish Government's Energy and International Low Carbon Division; Angus McCrone, Chief Editor, Bloomberg New Energy Finance; Lawrence Slade, Chief Operating Officer, Energy UK; Adam Bruce, Chairman of the Offshore Wind Programme Board; Andrew Jamieson, Chief Executive, Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult; David Blunt CVO, Member of the Norstec Steering Committee, and Gamesa’s Director Public Policy UK & EU Institutions; and many more!

"All-Energy 2013 is well set to be the largest ever in the event’s thirteen-show history," says Jonathan Heastie, Exhibition Director, Global Group Renewables and Alternative Energy of Reed Exhibitions Ltd. 'The exhibition is now 75% sold out and stand space continues to sell, at a record level with exhibitors encompassing all sectors of the renewable energy industry , enthusiastically booking their space, and signing up for our dozen sector-specific trails designed to benefit exhibitors by ensuring relevant footfall on their stands, and to help visitors easily find their way around the show."

Announcing 'The Energy Hub'

"I am particularly delighted to be able to announce an important new feature, The Energy Hub, sponsored by The Crown Estate," Jonathan Heastie adds. "This is a centrally placed business lounge on the exhibition floor where the key stakeholders in the renewable energy industry will be able to network and conduct business meetings. We are similarly appreciative that The Crown Estate is once again sponsoring the offshore wind stream of the conference, which will run throughout the two days, and also the offshore wind trail around the exhibition."

Rob Hastings, Director of Energy and Infrastructure, The Crown Estate said: "We welcome this opportunity to sponsor this year’s All-Energy exhibition & conference and are please to support both the offshore wind stream and the offshore wind trail – enabling attendees to easily navigate their way round the exhibition to the offshore wind exhibitors. "We are particularly excited to be extending our sponsorship to include 'The Energy Hub'. This offers visitors a dedicated business lounge to hold meetings and network. So, All-Energy will find The Crown Estate at the heart of the industry. We look forward to welcoming you there."

Other sponsors confirmed for All-Energy 2013 include EDP Renewables, Houlder and Mitsubishi Power Systems – and the growing exhibitor list can be found online, where many exhibitors are already taking advantage of enhanced web options that enable them to post full information on their exhibits and range of products or services, videos, social networking links, press releases and brochures as a 24/7 guide to potential visitors to the show.

Conference plans

Over 400 session ideas and synopses of proposed presentations were submitted to the organisers of All-Energy for consideration in the multi-stream conference, session and on-exhibition floor seminar theatres. Session ‘champions’ and steering groups are now poring over these submissions and an outline conference programme will be available during February. Admission to all conference sessions, in addition to the major exhibition and the Giant Networking Evening (on 22 May at AECC) is free of charge to all with a business/professional interest in renewable and sustainable energy.

Looking back

All-Energy 2012, held in Aberdeen in May, attracted a total attendance of 8,322 from 49 countries; 580 exhibiting companies from 19 countries, and over 300 speakers taking part in the major multi-stream conference and show-floor seminar theatres. The show got off to a flying start with keynote addresses by Alex Salmond MSP, First Minister of Scotland, Charles Hendry MP, then Minister of State for Energy at DECC, Keith Anderson, Chief Corporate Officer, ScottishPower, David Gartside a Board Member of the Health and Safety Executive, and with contributions from David Blunt of Gamesa Wind UK, Huub den Rooijen of The Crown Estate, and Dr Graham Cooley of ITM Power, the conference then divided into seven parallel sessions.

All-Energy an overview

All-Energy is where the sectors of which the renewable energy industry is comprised have the opportunity to speak with one voice. It is where all renewables come under the conference spotlight, and are represented in the major exhibition. On an annual basis the show promotes the advancement of renewable energy, and associated clean technology, in all its forms (with energy management added to the mix most recently) by engaging the political, business, industry, finance communities and academia to drive innovation, business and investment opportunities in response to the growing need for sustainable energy.

Each year All-Energy provides an unparalleled opportunity to see the latest cutting edge solutions, hear about policy and technology developments, source new partners and suppliers, participate in networking events and keep up-to-date with this rapidly evolving and increasingly important sector.

Scotland is the ideal place for the show, with its aim to generate the equivalent of 100% of its electricity needs from renewables by 2020; and Aberdeen ‘The Energy City’ helps to demonstrate not only the enthusiasm for and commitment to renewable energy, but the synergy between its long associated oil and gas sector and newer energy forms.

All-Energy is held in association with RenewableUK, Scottish Renewables, AREG – Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group, and UKTI – UK Trade and Investment, with The Society for Underwater Technology as its learned society patron. It is supported by nearly 30 government departments, development agencies, professional bodies and trade associations.
