Aberdeenshire Council Holds Homeowner Advice Sessions

Aberdeenshire Council is currently holding advice sessions for homeowners on repairing and maintaining properties.

The Scheme of Assistance is being offered through the Aberdeenshire Care and Repair Project.

The project provides information, advice, practical support and, in some circumstances, financial assistance to help homeowners and private sector tenants repair, maintain, improve or adapt their homes.

There are three elements to the Scheme:

- information and advice for homeowners or private tenants

- practical assistance

- financial assistance for eligible disabled adaptations and private water supplies.

Care and repair teams will be available to carry out home visits to assist owners to identify the work that is required and help prioritise.

They can also provide general advice on quotations, estimates and suitable contractors.

Chair of Aberdeenshire Council’s Housing and Social Work Committee Councillor Karen Clark said: "This service is available to all homeowners across Aberdeenshire. They do not need to be older or have a disability. I would encourage any homeowner who knows they need to have repairs carried out but do not know where to start to contact the care and repair project."

Vice chair councillor Alisan Norrie added: "The care and repair project does make such a difference to so many people’s lives and it offers a range of different support mechanisms.

"The council is committed to helping improve properties in its own stock as well as for homeowners and this scheme for private owners helps towards this and if you are thinking of some home DIY then it is worth looking into."
