The first phase of a new project to improve the standard of roads, pavements and the environment in Leith is to commence the week beginning 4 February.
The Leith Programme will see refurbishment work undertaken on Constitution Street, Leith Walk and Picardy Place.
The contractor is preparing to carry out essential utilties work.
A number of short-term trial holes will be dug in three locations (Constitution Street and McDonald Road).
These exploratory works mark the end of preparations for essential utilities infrastructure developments, which are scheduled to commence on 18 February.
On Constitution Street, trial holes are required at the front of both 46A and 159, and will be dug on Monday 28 January 2013. This work is expected to last a matter of days. There will be some parking restrictions during the process.
On McDonald Road at the junction with Leith Walk, trial holes will be dug over the weekend commencing Saturday 9 February 2013.
This will involve weekend work and the temporary closure of McDonald Road where it meets Leith Walk.
