Perth & Kinross Council has announced three workshops to be held in the future to discuss the impact of climate change on the Strathearn area.
The Strathearn Adapting to Climate Change Panel will meet on 5, 12 and 19 February 2013 at the Strathearn Community Campus in Crieff.
The workshops will attempt to find solutions to the potential impact of climate change in the future.
The meetings are being sponsored by Perth & Kinross Council with the support of Adaptation Scotland; a scheme that brings key stakeholders together to address and prepare for the impacts of climate change.
Strathearn has been chosen for in-depth engagement by the Council and Adaptation Scotland, due to its important road, rail, pylon and pipeline routes, existing and potential flooding issues, its productive agricultural land and distinctive settlements and communities.
Presentations on climate change will be given at the meetings, followed by discussions on possible preventative measures.
It is proposed that the results of the meetings will assist with the future work of local organisations and national bodies such as Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA).
