Glasgow Housing Association (GHA) has announced the three firms it will be contracting to help carry out demolition work over the next four years.
GHA selected three firms from a list of seven bidders and has split its work packages into three pipelines identified for the first two years of the framework arrangement.
The companies and their contracts are Birkenhead based Technical Demolition Services at £4.1m, Edinburgh based Dem-Master at £1.1m and Dundee specialist Safedem at £4.7m.
GHA says the contractors have proven track records for work on major demolition schemes in Glasgow’s blighted housing estates.
Details of the full four-year programme have yet to be finalised, but the Association says it is expecting to clear many more high rise blocks up to 31 storeys high, covering up to 2,000 flats and about 250 low rise flats as part of its social house building programme.
Collaborative partners New Gorbals Housing Association, Southside Housing Association and Sanctuary Group, will demolish a further 1,500 flats to clear space for redevelopment.
