Glasgow City Council took to demolishing a B-listed building over the Christmas holidays, causing surprise for local residents.
Burnfield Demolition was contracted by the Council to raze Springburn Public Halls.
Architecture magazine Urban Realm reported how contractors sealed off Keppochill Road during the works.
Springburn Halls had lain derelict for a quarter of a century.
The demolition process lasted just two days and began on 27 December.
Urban Realm reported how the Edwardian baroque structure, which was designed by William Brown Whitie in 1899, was thought to have deteriorated to the extent that its existence posed a heath and safety issue for locals.
The Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS) and Historic Scotland have now removed the Halls from their Buildings at Risk register.
