Ayrshire house-builder Hope Homes has seen a major profit increase following the decision to widen the scope of the firm’s activities.

Hope Homes has seen profits rise from £1773 to £29,848 in the year to March 31, 2012, despite a drop in turnover from £10.1m to £7.1m.

The company says its profitability has increased due to the directors’ efforts to continue to widen Hope’s activities.

This includes the construction of bespoke homes and non residential building.

Hope is currently working on Prince Charles’ model community at Cumnock.

The firm said it was committed to a long-term sustainable mixed use development in conjunction with the Prince’s Charities Foundation called Knockroon.

The development is situated on the edge of the Dumfries House estate in Cumnock.

The company said: "The development aims to not only create employment and bring prosperity to the area but will also serve as a model community for Scotland."

Planning consent has been given for the scheme, which features 770 new homes.

The first phase will see the creation of 87 new homes, 12 workshops and four commercial spaces.
