Dundee’s new Olympia swimming and leisure complex will be built and opened to the public in time for summer 2013, according to the City Council.
Construction company Mansell are currently working on the project, and are expected to have completed the new Olympia and adjoining multi-storey car park by spring 2013.
The opening date had initially been spring, but has now been put back to summer 2013 due to a variety of construction complications.
Once the building is completed, there will be a transitional period for the pool operators and Leisure and Culture Dundee to prepare the new building and fully test procedures and systems before opening to the public.
During the transitional period, swimmers will still be able to access facilities at Lochee Swimming Baths and the community pools at St Paul’s and Grove Academies.
Leader of the Administration, Ken Guild said: "I am looking forward to this impressive new leisure complex bringing swimming, fitness and health opportunities to people of all ages in the city.
"The Olympia is a superb addition to our leisure and sporting facilities in the city with its 50metre competition pool, wave pool, rapid river, dive pool, flumes and fitness suite.
"I am confident that the new Olympia will be enthusiastically welcomed by current and future generations of swimmers."
