Aberdeenshire Council has announced the second phase of a major refurbishment project at Banff Swimming Pool.
The work will start next week and will include repairs to the pool tank and the installation of a new air-handling unit.
The pool will be closed for about six weeks during the works, which begin on Monday 3 December.
The project follows a major £400,000 upgrade carried out earlier this year, which included the refurbishment of changing areas and reception foyer, improvements to the pool tank and preparatory work for upgrading the air-handling unit.
Now staff at the pool are working with groups who use the pool regularly to keep them informed.
The Council says community groups will be kept updated as to the exact date the pool will re-open. It has advised customers to use nearby facilities at Turriff, Huntly and Fraserburgh while the pool is closed.
Chair of Aberdeenshire Council’s Education, Learning & Leisure Committee, Cllr Isobel Davidson, said: "This second phase of work will continue the improvements being carried out at Banff Swimming Pool which will benefit local swimmers and other customers.
"We are working hard with contractors, neighbouring pools and local groups to minimise the inconvenience of the closure for users."
Committee vice-chair, Cllr Ron McKail, said: "The swimming pool is an important facility for the local community and it is great to see that work is being carried out to ensure it provides a top-quality service.
"We apologise for any inconvenience during the closure of the pool while works are being carried out."
