Plans are now in place to transform five sites in the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park.

The 5 Lochs Visitor Management Plan is being implemented to improve facilities and increase visits to the sites.

£850,000 is to be spent on the improvements, which will include new campsites, parking bays and toilets at Loch Venachar, Loch Lubnaig, Loch Earn, Lochs Achray and Loch Voil.

The plan details issues which affect visitor experience at the National Park and the environment.

Problems like litter, toilets, damage to sites and parking will be addressed over the next five years.

The £850,000 investment for the first stage of development is subject to planning permission.

The money will go to creating new facilities such as small-scale campsites, toilets, new parking bays, barbecue stands, picnic benches, commercial kiosks, motorhome facilities and recycling points.

Other sites within the area will be upgraded and transformed.

Work is expected to start at the Loch Lubnaig sites in February with completion in early summer.

The development plan has been drawn up with local communities, the National Park Authority and private and public sector partners.
