A development to build three new schools in Wick is currently on track to be completed by its target date of August 2015.

The Highland Council’s adult and children services committee is expected to be told the news at a meeting in Inverness on school provision on Wednesday, 7 November.

The two new primary schools and one new secondary school are being delivered by Hub North Scotland Limited.

Hub North has already submitted its indicative costs for the project.

The design requirements for the development are currently being considered by officials.

One of the new primary schools will be built south of Wick River, while the other will be North Primary School.

The accommodation schedule for the southerly development has already been agreed, while details regarding North Primary school are in consultation and expected to be completed by December.

Construction of the two new primary skills is due to begin in May 2014, with completion expected for June 2015.

Costs have currently not yet been finalised.

The new Wick High School is expected to be built at a cost of £19m and will also act as the new South Primary.

The development will see the merging of the existing South school and Pulteneytown Academy. Construction will begin in September 2013 with completion due by July 2015.
