A northeast organics recycling firm is celebrating a double win in one of Scotland’s biggest business awards.

Keenan Recycling scooped two prizes in the Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce Northern Star Business Awards.

The firm won in the Overall Small Business and Green Award categories.

Keenan recycles food and garden waste into BSI (British Standard) accredited compost at its £5m facility at New Deer in Aberdeenshire.

The ceremony hosted 38 finalists across 13 categories and was attended by around 840 people.

The firm, run by brothers Grant and Gregor Keenan, deals with tens of thousands of tonnes of food and organic waste from all over Scotland and recycles materials for businesses and food processors with green targets.

Managing Director of Keenan Recycling, Grant Keenan said: "We are absolutely overwhelmed to have won two Northern Star awards at one of the North-east’s most high profile business events. It was such a great surprise and a great honour for the business to be recognised by the Chamber."
