Oil and gas industry provider Aker Solutions has announced a new multi-million pound deal which will see up to 150 jobs created at both its Shetland and its Aberdeen sites.
The company has secured a three-year contract to provide services to Total E&P UK Ltd and its joint venture partner DONG E&P Ltd at the new Shetland Gas Plant (SGP).
The contract will see Aker provide operations, maintenance and services support personnel at its new gas plant, which will utilise resources from the Laggan and Tormore fields, west of Shetland.
150 positions will be created in order to support the contract, which will include the Shetland plant and and onshore in Aberdeen.
Mike Forbes, UK managing director of Aker Solutions' maintenance, modifications and operations business said: "This is a significant contract for us and I am delighted that Total E&P UK has chosen to build on our long-standing partnership with the award of this important contract.

Aker Solutions has been working alongside Total E&P UK since 1989.
It currently employs over 180 people at its St. Fergus gas plant in and offshore on the Elgin Franklin assets.
