Galliford Try, the housebuilding and construction group, has announced that its Scottish business, Morrison Construction, has been awarded a £28 million construction contract forming part of a £45 million Moray Council project to upgrade flood defences at Forres (Findhorn & Pilmuir) in Northern Scotland.
The project is part of the wider £177 million Moray Flood Alleviation scheme which combines the expertise of The Moray Council, Royal HaskoningDHV, Morrison Construction and EC Harris to solve flooding issues across Moray.
On completion the project will alleviate potential flooding to the town of Forres from the Findhorn and Pilmuir catchments, by recreating riverside flood plains, constructing set-back flood defences and forming a new drainage channel with pumping station.
The contract is due to start in this month, with completion in Spring 2015.
Galliford Try Chief Executive Greg Fitzgerald said: "We are delighted to strengthen our relationship with The Moray Council by securing this important contract to deliver a fifth scheme through our existing construction partnering arrangement."
