The refurbishment of Biggar Park Tennis Courts has now been completed.

Members of the tennis club and local user groups got together with South Lanarkshire Leisure & Culture to decide on a programme for the refurbishment and specialist contractors were brought in to clean and rejuvenate the synthetic courts.

Some essential repairs to the perimeter fencing around the courts was carried out and a range of new equipment including umpire chairs, posts, racquets and balls were also purchased.

It is hoped that the improved facilities will encourage players of all ages and abilities to come along and make use of the courts at a time when the benefits of following a healthy lifestyle are clear to everyone.

The £7500 refurbishment by South Lanarkshire Leisure & Culture was made possible with help from a Clyde Wind Farm Community Development Fund grant of almost £5000.

Councillor Hamish Stewart, the chair of the SLLC Board, said: "Our aim is to work in partnership where we can to improve people's lives through a wide range of high quality services that are accessible to all. This project certainly demonstrates our commitment to achieving this aim."
