An Edinburgh Napier student has graduated at the top of her class after receiving support from a Scottish construction company.

Congratulations are due to Lise Thenault, 24, who has graduated with a 1st Class Masters degree in Civil and Transportation Engineering.

She was awarded a £2,000 engineering scholarship from Balfour Beatty Construction, in a scheme set up to mark the completion of the University's new Sighthill campus last year, and has now impressed bosses so much she bagged a graduate job with the company.

As part of the scheme Lise completed a 15 week work placement working on the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh car park and the Waverley station refurbishment project.

Tim Clarke, Divisional Managing Director for Balfour Beatty Construction said: "Following the successful completion of the new facilities on the Sighthill Campus, we were delighted to offer this scholarship to support our future engineering generation. Lise impressed our team with her enthusiasm, knowledge and professionalism to such an extent that we look forward to her joining the business as a graduate this summer."

Following Lise's success, the company have committed to supporting another student this year from the MEng Civil Engineering programme. They will be awarded £2000 as well as a summer placement opportunity in 2013.
