A team of apprentices from GHA and Glasgow City Council joined volunteers in helping spruce up the area round a community centre in the north of Glasgow.
The horticultural apprentices joined GHA housing staff and environmental wardens, as well as Community Janitors, to plant shrubs and build a patio area at The Ashgill Recreation Centre (The Arc) in Milton.
The popular centre, which is run by Glasgow Community Safety Services (GCSS), includes a gym, a boxing club and basketball team.
As well as helping youngsters stay fit and learn new skills, the centre helps tackle anti-social behaviour in the area by offering alternatives to young people.
The apprentices worked alongside staff from GHA’s Milton office and members of the community in building the new patio, installing picnic benches and planting shrubs.
Jackie Morris, GHA’s North Area Director, said: "The Arc does a lot of important work with young people in the community, and a lot of our tenants use the facility, so we were delighted to lend a hand.
"This was a real community effort and the new area looks great."
Brian Devlin, Glasgow City Council’s Executive Director for Land and Environmental Services, said: "In communities across the city, Sustainable Glasgow partners, like the Council and GHA, have been engaging with and supporting local people to make their area a better place to live in.
"We are delighted to see the great work being done in Milton and that so many in this community are doing their bit to ensure Glasgow is cleaner, greener and healthier for everyone to enjoy."
