A Kingdom project has received excellent EcoHomes accreditation.

The £1.2 million project was funded by Kingdom Housing Association in conjunction with the Scottish Government and Fife Council.

The project was designed by Oliver and Robb Architects and each house includes a range of energy saving devices, such as solar panels, triple glazing, sun pipes, low energy lighting and external cycle storage.

The EcoHomes scheme is a national quality assurance assessment which considers the environmental impact of the project.


Developments are evaluated on a number of factors, including the building fabric, energy use, emissions, land use, health and wellbeing and project management.

Staff at Kingdom Housing Association were delighted with the results of the assessment, which also gave the Crail development a four star rating.

Alan McGuckin, Chief Executive of Kingdom Housing Association, said: "We are very pleased to receive an excellent rating through the accreditation process.

"During the last year a total of 438 projects were assessed in the UK under EcoHomes and only 58 achieved the excellent rating - we are delighted that the Crail development is one of the projects to achieve the highest rating.

"This project was developed through a close working partnership with Fife Council and we are very grateful to the support the project received from both the Council and the Community Council."
