Staff and pupils gathered at Clovenfords Primary School today to celebrate their first day in the new school.

The school is situated in the heart of the village, greatly improving accessibility to pupils and the community. It contains five classrooms, a general purpose room, nursery, multi-use games area (MUGA), hall and dining room for use by the school and the community.

A ribbon was cut by P7 pupil Liam Davidson, who is 12 today, assisted by Headteacher Alison Sutherland and Council Convener Alasdair Hutton. Pupils then followed their teachers to their new classrooms.

Headteacher at Clovenfords Primary School, Alison Sutherland, explained: "The support of parents, the community, and Scottish Borders Council and its partners has given us the confidence to maintain our high level of education at the school and we look forward to building on this as we go forward in our fabulous new school."

Staff, pupils and guests were entertained by the children in the new games hall with the performance of a new song specially commissioned and written by them to mark their first day in school.
