Perth’s AK Bell Library is to close its doors for a month while refurbishment work is carried out to improve the range of services and facilities on offer.
The library will close at 12pm on Saturday 14th April, and reopen on Monday 14th May.
During the closure a number of key improvements will be carried out, including the replacement of flooring, and a reorganisation of the lending floor to increase the range of fiction stock available and improve the range of community information on offer.
The lay-out of the library will also be improved, providing more areas for visitors to relax with a book or newspaper and enjoy the building's unique atmosphere.
The Council’s Libraries and Information Manager, Helen Smout, said: "We would like to apologise for any inconvenience the refurbishment work at AK Bell Library will cause to service users. We hope the contingency measures put in place will allow everyone to use and enjoy our services despite the closure.
"The refurbishment will make a positive difference the experience of visitors to AK Bell Library, and all the staff are looking forward to the work being completed."
