Moray Council has granted planning permission for a new Baxters food production unit at Fochabers within six weeks of the application being submitted – well within the government target.
Councillor Stewart Cree, chairman of the council’s planning and regulatory services committee, said it reflected the improvement in the council’s performance in planning and its commitment to facilitating sustainable development to the benefit of the Moray economy and its community.
The chairman of the council’s economic development and infrastructure services committee, Councillor John Russell, said the committee had approved a protocol for offering pre-planning application advice to developers for major developments to identify all issues to be considered in the processing of large scale applications, thus streamlining the application process.
The committee has also approved and published a commitment to fast track applications for the establishment of small and medium businesses, recognising the role they have to play in generating employment.
