People in Penicuik can now find out more about the new extra care housing facility in the town.
The development is based on an approach successfully adopted elsewhere in the UK providing a real alternative to traditional residential care.
A 3D model of the development is the centre piece of a new display at Penicuik Library.
With work planned to start in spring 2012 this display is an opportunity for local people to find out more about the innovative development at Eastfield Drive.
Planned to open in autumn 2013, the new building will feature 32 apartments and a community hub, incorporating best practice in architectural design for people with dementia. The facility will replace Pentland House Care Home which will no longer meet national care standards. Upgrading Pentland House has been considered but is not an affordable or feasible option.
