Moray Council’s new HQ campus building has been officially opened by council convener George McIntyre.

He unveiled a plaque to mark the completion of work on the £4million building which began life 20 years ago as a supermarket.

The conversion to a modern workplace for more than 200 staff has taken almost 18 months.

It will allow the council to close around 20 satellite offices throughout Elgin.

Councillor McIntyre said the new building was part of a huge change programme implemented by the council which would ensure that everyone received better quality services, more quickly and at less cost to the council taxpayer.

"We are making better use of technology both for customers and staff," he said.

"These projects cost money to implement but we have to spend now to save in the longer term."

Councillor McIntyre said the acquisition of the former supermarket building had been a wise decision and would allow the council to bring staff from the satellite offices across Elgin under one roof next to the existing HQ building.
