The Scottish Homebuilding & Renovating Show Returns

The Scottish Homebuilding & Renovating Show, Scotland’s largest consumer exhibition for self-builders, home renovators and improvers, is back at the SECC on May 19 – 20 2012.

The show is the ideal place to get in touch with self-build experts. It also gives visitors the chance to source all the products, services and advice for building or renovating a dream home, under one roof – from heating, ventilation and restoration to eco homes, home automation and timber frame structure.

There will be over 140 exhibitors, 20% of which are new to the show, offering advice on all areas of self-build and renovation.

The exhibition will be full of informative features, thousands of dream home ideas and hundreds of plots and renovation opportunities. Building professionals can hear about a range of innovative solutions to help builders and small developers improve profitability, whilst managing projects efficiently. Experts will be on hand to offer free guidance and support to visitors looking to make their first home alterations as well as seasoned professionals in the art of self build, at:

• 8 seminars each day. Hear experts life-experiences, avoid expensive mistakes and pick up practical tips. Subjects include Plot Finding, Introduction to Planning Permission and Extension Design Ideas

•24 Free Masterclasses - led by exhibitors covering their area of expertise. Topics will include Eco Homebuilding, Smart Homes and Energy Efficiency

•Ask the Experts – visitors can bring their plans, outline drawings or ideas and speak to one of the experts from Hombuilding & Renovating Magazine, including self-build experts Mark Brinkley and David Snell, eco Expert Tim Pullen.and TV presenter and seriel self-builder Michael Holmes

•Ask the Architects - no matter the stage or scale of your project, bring your plans to the Ask the Architects stand and talk free, one-to-one, to an architect and save yourself £100s on consultancy fees.

According to show organiser Nick Noble, there has never been a better time to self-build: “With lower land prices and skilled labour becoming more available, this is a great time to self-build. Despite the economic gloom self-builders are still very active, as illustrated by the fact that one in three new detached houses being built is a self-build project."
