AMEC Scoops Kinneil Terminal Contract

AMEC, the international engineering and project management company, has been awarded a £10 million contract to provide project services to BP for the Kinneil Enhanced Gas Separation (EGS) project, Grangemouth, Scotland.

The project will modify and extend BP’s existing Kinneil Crude Oil Stabilisation Terminal. AMEC will work in partnership with BP to deliver mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation services, as well as construction and project management.

The project will start immediately and completion is scheduled for mid-2013. At its peak the contract will create 120 construction jobs in the local area.

The main activities of the Kinneil Terminal are stabilisation of crude oil from the North Sea Forties Field and processing and treatment of natural gas liquids from the St Fergus gas terminals. This latest project will enable the facility to process unstabilised crude oil, which has a high gas to oil ratio, to meet the requirements of BP’s customers.

"We are very pleased to work with BP on this strategically important project which further confirms our capabilities in the mid and downstream oil and gas sector," said Dave Winskill, AMEC’s Asset Support Operations Director. "Our long-term and sustained delivery, which we carry out on time, to budget and safely no matter how complex the task, has been recognised by BP in this award."

AMEC has worked continuously at Grangemouth since the 1970s.
