Storm Damage Help For Tenants

Construction News Image
Housing association staff are helping hundreds of Edinburgh tenants repair their properties after the recent storms.

Dunedin Canmore Housing Association's Customer Service Centre has dealt with hundreds of calls from tenants reporting problems due to the bad weather over the last two weeks.

Burst pipes, trees falling down and slates being torn off roofs caused havoc as high winds battered the Capital.

Housing Minister Keith Brown praised staff who are working to keep disruption to tenants to a minimum, adding that their hard work and dedication was being mirrored by other organisations across the country.

Housing Minister Keith Brown meets Dunedin Canmore emergency teams "In recent weeks, Scotland has experienced severe disruption and structural damage caused by very high winds.

"Today, I saw for myself the in action and their tremendous efforts to help tenants across the city.

"They are to be congratulated for their efforts as are dozens of other public and voluntary organisations rolling up their sleeves to help communities across Scotland deal with the aftermath of the storms."

Ewan Fraser, Chief Executive of Dunedin Canmore Housing Association said: "After such a fierce storm we are disappointed that we cannot repair all of the damage as fast as we would like.

"Our tenants however, do really understand and we can assure them that we are working flat out with our contractors to fix all of the problems as quickly as possible.

"We have an excellent team in here to respond to our customers which is great, as the last few winters have been a real challenge."

Dunedin Canmore Housing Association is one of Edinburgh's leading Registered Social Landlord's (RSL) with nearly 5000 units in management.
