Balfour Beatty engineering services has awarded £2.1m to refurbish the West Wing at Intertek Phase 2 development in Aberdeen.
Intertek, a provider of quality and safety services, has invested £15m in its Aberdeen headquarters for its energy services operation.
The company will move in phases to the 41,000ft2 North Point building on the Energy Park in Bridge of Don, with the first service line now based there and 160 employees to relocate by March 2012.
Intertek has signed a 20-year lease and is investing more than £4.5m in laboratories that are currently being renovated along with research and development, testing and training facilities.
Balfour Beatty Engineering Services (BBES) will supply and install mechanical and electrical services comprising laboratory gases, fume cupboards, ventilation, heating, BMS controls, air conditioning, lighting, power and security systems.
Sustainability aspects on this project include energy monitoring, lighting controls , modular plant rooms and led lighting.
Modularisation of plant rooms and containment and prefabrication of laboratory bench services will be employed on this project, for improved safety.
Robertson Construction is our client for this project, with consultancy services provided by Wallace Whittle.
This project represents our first major win in the Aberdeen market, since the setting up of our new Scotland North office in Kintore.
Andy Cryle is responsible for the project which will be project managed by Douglas Scott, supported by Gary Thomson and the team from the Kintore and Livingston offices.
