East Lothian Council is seeking the views of local residents into the possible restoration of the Amisfield stables block, situated in the grounds of the former Amisfield House in Haddington.

Cabinet member for Economic Development, Cllr Stuart Mackinnon, explained: "East Lothian Council has commissioned a feasibility study into the possibility of restoring the Amisfield stable block in Haddington. We want to hear the views of local residents on the value they place on this historic building and if restored, what would be the best use of the facility?

"The building is situated in grounds on the outskirts of Haddington and I am sure that local people will provide many and varied suggestions for its potential future use."

The project is being part-financed by the Scottish Government and the European Community Tyne Esk LEADER 2007-13 programme. The community consultation is being carried out as part of this work. A range of activities are being planned to establish the views of the local community, including an open meeting; contact with local organisations; a focus group; and an online survey.
