Paving Supplied For Scotland’s First Coffee Shop Drive-Thru

Hanson Formpave, a UK manufacturer and supplier of SUDS and water harvesting systems using specialist concrete paving, has secured a deal to supply over 300m2 of its patented permeable paving system, Aquaflow® for a parking area and car lane at Scotland’s first Costa Drive-Thru, part of the £100m Lomondgate development at Dumbarton.

Specified by lead architects, G D Lodge Architects and main contractors, Marshall Construction of Alloa, the patented 80mm Aquaflow paving blocks, in Red Brindle, will reduce surface water and puddles, providing a permeable surface for the both the car park and car lane.

It will be supplied through builders’ merchant, Keyline, from its Perth branch. With branches nationwide, Keyline is a member of Hanson Formpave’s approved builders’ merchant network.

Douglas Hinshaw, Keyline senior telesales assistant, in Perth said: “We have a long-standing relationship with Marshall Construction and, aware of our ability and knowledge of the Hanson Formpave products, they contacted us directly. It’s thanks to Hanson Formpave’s training and supplier support programme that we are able to ask our customers the right questions, helping to identify and quote products, accurately and confidently. Their continued support during the specification and order process helped us secure this order.”

Hanson Formpave’s national sales manager Nick Riddle commented: “This is a very exciting project as Costa is such a well known UK brand. The Aquaflow product is perfect for a retail and service environment, able to withstand high-footfall and regular traffic, as well as infiltrate all the spillages.

“By working with Keyline and other approved builders’ merchants in our network we can provide patented paving systems throughout the UK and customers can be confident they are receiving a quality product and service from an approved Hanson Formpave distributor,” said Nick.

The new Drive-Thru is due to open before Christmas 2011. It will offer seating for around 100 people, both indoors and outside and will be open daily from 5.30am to 9.30pm.

The Lomondgate development offers businesses and residents a world-class location, at the gateway to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. It is being delivered through a joint venture between property developers, Walker Group and Strathleven Regeneration C.I.C and includes a business park, roadside services, approx. 330 homes and major facilities for the BBC and Aggreko.
