Over 200 jobs have been lost in Aberdeen, after a major window manufacturer ran into trouble.

Administrators KPMG were called in to AC Yule after the company got into financial difficulties with the consultants saying that 211 of the 272 staff had been made redundant following their appointment.


The remaining 61 staff have been kept on to help the administrators realise the company's existing assets and to complete a number of orders.

The company was established in 1946 and supplies glass, architectural aluminium and PVC windows throughout Scotland and the north of England.

It operates in Aberdeen, Elgin and Livingston and, until recently, had sites at Forfar and Boldon near Newcastle.

KPMG said some orders would be completed while a buyer for the business and assets was sought.
