East Plean Primary pupils will get a new school after Stirling Council's Executive took a unanimous decision to build a brand new school on the existing school site.

With eight classrooms, the new school will provide a modern learning and teaching with flexible break out spaces and modern facilities. The nursery class will be increased in size and located adjacent to the Primary 1 classroom to enable close working at the early years stages. The new school will be fully accessible with external ramps and suitable internal provision including a lift to reach staff facilities on the upper floor. It is hoped that this new school will facilitate greater community use in the evenings and weekends.

Councillor Graham Lambie, Portfolio Holder for Education said: "I welcome this decision. The new school will provide the best possible learning experience for East Plean's youngest people and will meet modern educational needs and standards."

The headteacher, Mrs Connie Desmond and the pupil and parent councils worked with the project team to influence the options put before the Executive. Together, they have played an instrumental part to meet the future needs of the children from Plean Primary School and Nursery.

A community engagement co-ordinator will be appointed to help keep people of Plean informed as the development takes shape.
